Join Us in AFRICA

An adventure that becomes personal

Travel through Uganda alongside ten young African Children’s Choir alumni, sharing the communities, schools and family homes that have shaped their lives.

Roll up your sleeves for community projects, share your skills in workshops and spend time with children through the Choir’s outreach programs.

We work alongside our Ugandan hosts, supporting what matters to their communities.

There’ll be singing, laughter, unexpected adventures and friendships that grow through doing something meaningful together.

Getting it done
TOGETHER

From playgrounds to dunnies, we get stuck into practical projects alongside our Ugandan team. Bring your skills, learn a few new ones and expect plenty of banter. There’s something special about standing back together and saying, “We did that.”

Small moments
BIG CONNECTIONS

A shared song, a game, a child determined to teach you the dance moves. Through the Choir’s community outreach, we’ll spend time with children, support local activities and discover how much can happen when we give each other our time and attention.

AN INVITATION
Inside

Share a meal, join the dancing, pull up a chair and listen. Our hosts welcome us into their everyday lives, where conversations wander, stories unfold and there’s as much to learn as there is to share.

SOMETHING
Stays with you

You might come for the music, the volunteering or the adventure. Then a conversation catches you off guard. Someone shares their story, a friendship takes hold, and you find yourself seeing things a little differently. Those moments have a way of coming home with you.

Find Your
VOICE

Sing alongside UBUNTU Africa and experience the thrill of performing together. We’ll learn from each other, rehearse and have a few laughs getting there. You don’t need a trained voice, just a willingness to give it a go. Performing is optional.

SHARE
what you know

CPR, self-defence, dance, craft or a practical skill you use every day. Something you know could be something someone else has never had the chance to learn. Share it through a hands-on workshop, with our Ugandan team helping bring everyone together. You might be surprised by what you learn in return.

WHO CAN JOIN?

Everyday Aussies with curious minds, open hearts and a willingness to join in. Come on your own, with a partner or with a friend. You don’t need to be a singer or have a particular skill.

Our travellers bring different ages, backgrounds and life experiences. What we share is a desire to contribute, connect and experience something beyond the familiar.

Adults aged 18–85 are welcome, and teenagers aged 13–17 can join with an accompanying adult.

How we fund our projects

The contribution begins before we leave. Each Australian traveller is encouraged to raise at least A$1,000 to help fund the community projects we’ll work on alongside our Ugandan hosts.

Your tour package covers accommodation, meals, transport and the activities listed in our inclusions. Flights are booked and paid for separately.

See Costs and Inclusions for the full details.

After our time in Kampala, working alongside our hosts in the schools and slum communities, we’ll hit the road together to explore western Uganda, with wildlife encounters, village welcomes and plenty of adventure ahead.

Take the SCENIC ROUTE

Our adventure heads west, with our ACC alumni crew along for the road trip. From Fort Portal to Queen Elizabeth National Park, through cattle country and into Barnie’s home village, there’s plenty to discover together.

Into the wild

Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park and a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel. Elephants, hippos and the excitement of seeing what turns up next.

Meet the herd

An overnight stay at Nshenyi Cultural Village, getting to know our hosts and their magnificent long-horned Ankole cattle.

Come home with Barnie

A personal welcome to Mparo, where Barnie was born and his family still lives. Familiar faces, family stories and a glimpse into the life that shaped him.

Time by the lake

Explore Lake Bunyonyi by canoe or boat, join an optional activity or enjoy an afternoon overlooking the islands.

One more adventure

A stop at Lake Mburo before we head back to Entebbe to prepare for our trip back to Oz. By then, we’ll have plenty of stories of our own.
