Approved Fields of Study
Fellows may apply to study in one of the following vocational areas:
The KwaYa Leadership Fellowship supports vocational study only, in carefully selected fields that align with community wellbeing, service, and long-term impact.
Approved fields are chosen to ensure that:

Skills can be applied directly in home communities

Only the study fields listed below are supported through the Fellowship
Aged Care and Individual Support
Aged Care / Individual Support focuses on hands-on care and daily support for older people and individuals with support needs.
This pathway is best suited to applicants with demonstrated experience in care settings, through paid employment or supervised volunteer roles.
Applicants should be able to show a clear connection between their past experience and their chosen course of study.
Fellows may progress into Certificate III or IV in Individual Support or related aged care qualifications.
Disability Support
Disability Support focuses on assisting individuals with disability to live with dignity, independence, and inclusion.
This pathway suits applicants with relevant experience through paid employment or structured volunteer roles supporting people with disability, including community, education, or care settings.
Applicants should demonstrate patience, reliability, and an understanding of person-centred support.
Fellows may progress into Certificate III or IV in Disability Support or related qualifications.
Community Services
Community Services focuses on supporting people and communities through education, mentoring, outreach, and wellbeing programs.
This pathway suits young people who have volunteered in schools, youth programs, community outreach, or Music for Life / African Children’s Choir activities.
Volunteer experience is recognised, and a paid job is not required.
Fellows may progress into Certificate III, Certificate IV, or Diploma-level Community Services training, depending on readiness and provider requirements.
